Since April 19th for imports from non-EU countries of organic products there is a new electronic system for the certificates of inspection.
This new system is to contribute the Food Safety through improving the traceability and facilitating the monitoring.
The commencement of the implementing regulation (EU) 2016/1842 including the modifications concerning the regulation (EC) 1235/2008 provide the base for the implementation of the certificates of inspection into the EU-wide electronic system called TRACES (Trade Control and Expert System).
Implementing TRACES is connected to the aspiration to enable access into the import procedure for all participating players and herewith to accelerate the administrative procedure.
Until October 19th there will be a transition period of six month meanwhile there will be still the possibility to apply to paper certificates.
After October 19th 2017 all of the imports of organic products has to be handled through TRACES.
